Chappell hosted a contest Tuesday night between the home town Bombers and Alliance Navy club. The visiting Spartans got a one hitter from pitcher Kyler Hamel in a game that ended in a tie at 2 to 2. Hamel went all 4 innings and struck out 5. The Peltz Co has a 17-18-2 record on the year. Israel Garcia, Miguel Galvan, and Cisco Cody had hits for the Navy squad.
Buckley held Alliance without a run in the top of the first while plating 2 of their own. The Bombers capitalized on a pair of miscues by the Spartans, a hit, and a passed ball to go up 2 to 0. Both clubs went down quietly in the second as the matchup went to the third with the Peltz Co behind 2 to 0.
Alliance chipped away at their deficit in the third with one tally. A walk to Jackson Devlin started things. Devlin would advance after a hit by Garcia. The Spartans’ first run came after an RBI fielder’s choice by Casyn Rodriguez scored Devlin. A double by Galvan ensued but the Spartan was left on the bases. Hamel had a 1-2-3 third frame to keep the guests close. Inning 4 the Peltz Co tied the game at 2. Cody got a single and moved into scoring position after another walk by Devlin. An error by Buckley scored Cody to knot the game at 2 to 2. The Bomber’s bats were then silenced by Hamel in the bottom of the fourth and the contest ended with a 2 to 2 tie.
