Gering Ends Preps Win Streak with 9 to 1 Victory

Round 2 of a doubleheader between the Spartan Prep team and Gering saw the Alliance club dropping a 9 to 1 decision. The Peltz Co now has a 15-17-1 record of the season. Gering put 6 big scores in the column in the third in getting the W. Alliance had their five game streak come to an end in a contest played in Alliance. The Spartans won the first game of the doubleheader played earlier 17 to 4 but could only muster 2 hits in the loss. On the hill for the Peltz Co was starter Eban Lore and reliever Cooper Galles.

One run in each of the first 2 innings gave the visitors an early lead. Up 2 to 0, Gering scored 6 times in the top of the third to pull away. Alliance would load the bases in the home half but were turned away. Both squads went scoreless in the fourth. After 4 frames, the Preps were down 8 to 0. Inning 5 had Gering scoring one run to surge ahead by 9. The Peltz Co used hits by Ryan Walker and Galles to threaten in their final at bat. An RBI groundout by Preston Flores ensued but it wasn’t enough. Final Gering 9 Alliance 1
