Get to Know Officer Marco Vera Chavez #120

I am Marco Vera Chavez. I was born in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. When I was 10-years-old, my family moved to the United States of America on July 4, 2000. I was raised in Ord, Nebraska. I spent most summers working in a popcorn farm/facility until I graduated from the Ord Jr/Sr High School in 2008.

I attended the University of Nebraska in Kearney, NE (UNK). I graduated UNK in 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Translation and Interpretation and Criminal Justice. While attending UNK, I met my wonderful wife, Rebeca “Becky” Acosta Reza. After graduating UNK, I was offered a supervisory position with the popcorn facility Zangger Popcorn Hybrids. While working for Zangger Popcorn Hybrids, I travel to Chile several times to supervise the popcorn production they had there. Becky and I welcomed our firstborn child in 2013 who was followed by his brother in 2014, their sister in 2018, and a new baby due SOON!

I joined the Alliance Police Department in 2017 when relocating to the wonderful community of Alliance.

I have received great training opportunities, but the greatest one has been attending a six-week training camp for narcotics with my Police Service Dog Zeus.
