Ephesians 1:5, is a very encouraging verse: “He (God) predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ in accordance with His pleasure and will.”
Let that sink in. God wants us! He adopted us! We are His pleasure! It is then our goal to live for God’s pleasure. When the concept that my purpose exists is to bring God pleasure, it changed my life. I questioned: Did my life bring God a measure of pleasure? Was God pleased that He created me? (Read Psalm 139: 13-17) What could I change to bring God more pleasure? Life isn’t about my pleasure, rather when God is pleased I am blessed.
Proverbs 16:7, is a promise from God: “When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord, He makes even His enemies live at peace with him.” Another Scripture explains God’s heart for us: “The Lord delights in those who fear (reverence) Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love” (Psalm 147:11). Another Scripture: “God takes delight in His people; He crowns the humble with salvation” (Psalm 149:4).
The application for these thoughts is for all of God’s people to live to bring Him great happiness.
