God’s Word

God’s word to Timothy, and to all who want to live a godly life, tells us in II Timothy 2:15:
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” That is a verse for all who love God and accept the Bible as God’s word to us.

As I write this, I recall a group years ago who came to me concerned with my preaching. They thought I used the Bible too much because it caused people to feel guilty at times. I asked where I would get material for sermons. The answer was to read more books and give reports on them. Needless to say I continued in God’s word for sermons.

God reveals His love for us, His plans for our salvation and His eternal rewards for us. If we want God, through Jesus, we search His letters to His people to determine a life pleasing to Him. God had a reminder for Timothy in II Timothy 3:16-17.” “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man (or woman) of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

We need God’s direction which is found in God’s word.
