Governor Jim Pillen announced last Friday that he will host a town hall meeting in Alliance on Thursday, June 27 at 4:30 p.m. at Westside Events Center in Alliance, located at 2472 County Road 62, to discuss property tax relief.
The meeting in Alliance is one of a handful of planned stops in the Panhandle, with other locations including Chadron and Ogallala. The Chadron town hall is set to take place at the CSC Student Center—Lakota Room, located at 1000 Main Street, at 1 p.m. on Thursday. The town hall meeting in Ogallala will take place on Friday at the Petrified Wood Gallery, located at 418 East 1st Street. Each of the events are open to the public.
In a press release announcing the stop, Governor Pillen said, “Nebraskans across the state have made clear that they expect state leaders to solve the property tax crisis. While we are counting on the Legislature to develop the right solution, all Nebraskans must be part of this conversation. The Legislature failed to pass any property tax relief in the regular session, but we will finish the job in a special session.”
