Grace Lucille Rose Obituary

An incredible woman left this earthly place to be amongst the angels this past week.  Grace Lucille Rose, 91, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Box Butte General Hospital with her family at her side.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 11th, 10:00 a.m. at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, with The Reverend Richard C. Mueller officiating.  Burial will follow at the Alliance Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 from 2:00 p.m-6:00 p.m., with family being present at 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home, Alliance Nebraska.

Grace was born October 21, 1930 in Hemingford Nebraska to Ora Oliver and Clarissa (Hand) Carter.  After attending Hemingford schools, she joined the workforce at the Alliance Creamery until she met Dwayne Rose. Grace and Dwayne married March 28, 1951 in Scottsbluff, NE, and to this union, six children were born.  They made their home in the Hemingford area for a few years until they moved to Alliance Nebraska in 1954. In 1961, the growing family moved to the farm south of Alliance until Dwayne’s retirement in 2000. 

Grace was an active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served many years on the Altar committee and was also an active volunteer with the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program.  Grace was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. 

She is survived by her husband, Dwayne, her children, Lucy Gressley of Alliance, Doris (Larry) Gran of Belle Fourche, SD, Nancy (Tom) Neal of Harrisburg, NE, Marlene Rose (Steve Thompson) of Alliance and Dwayne Rose Jr. of Tacoma, WA.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Toby Neal, Kathleen (Cory) Johnson, Dustin (Jeanne) Marx, Kendra Marx, Alicia (James) Hansen, Ashley Rose, Emily Gran (Josh O’Handly), and Jessica (Taylor) Ruzicka and her great grandchildren, Layne, Natalie, Logan, Jayden, Tristin, Aubree, Torri, Liam, and Espyn along with several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her son, Marvin, her parents and beloved in-laws. She was the last surviving sibling to her brothers and sisters, Raymond Carter, Dean Carter, Mary Loflin, Lillian Tuma, Walter Carter, Roland Carter and LaVerne Carter.

A memorial has been established in memory of Grace at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church 1024 Box Butte Ave Alliance, NE 69301.
