Hands For Growing

Have you started planting yet? The DOVES Program in Alliance is growing green things in our offices and soon we’ll be growing green things in the park too. What do we mean? We’re launching our first annual Hands For Growing project right here in Alliance! This fun and educational program invites youth to get their hands dirty, grow green things, and learn about healthy boundaries, healthy relationships, and more.

Hands For Growing isn’t a new project to DOVES—we’ve been successfully leading a group in Sidney for over 12 years now. Kids in 6th through 8th grades join us in the garden to learn how healthy relationships and healthy gardens are a lot alike. Both people and plants have needs that must be met and boundaries that must be established for healthy growth, after all.

Are you as excited about this project as we are? Do you have a green thumb? Would you like to help us in the garden this summer? Please contact Rachelle at 308-436-2787 to learn how you can volunteer to be a part of this awesome, interactive project that will beautify a bit of Alliance and support our amazing youth. If you just want to stop by to see how the garden is going, it’s located south of Sallow’s Military Museum (just north of the fountain). The Hands For Growing project will run from May 26 to August 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday mornings.

We’ll see you there!
