Happy Fourth of July

Happy 4th of July weekend, everyone! Hopefully you are able to be out and about over the holiday weekend without worrying about thunderstorms or really hot temperatures. On average, the high this time of year is in the middle 80s and the average low is in the middle 50s. But as we all know, it isn’t “average” around here very often! In fact, getting into the triple digits this time of year happens quite often. But according to the record books, it hasn’t happened on the 4th of July! The warmest day on record on the 4th happened in 1999 when it got to 99 degrees. 99 on 1999… kind of ironic! It also got to 98 in 2008 and 1996. Record lows are a different story. It has gotten cold on the 4th of July. The record low is 36 set in 1997. That is by far the coldest it has been on this date. The next coldest record is 45 set just last year. As far as precipitation is concerned, it doesn’t seem to want to rain a whole lot of the 4th of July. The record for the most rain on this day is a mere 0.56” set in 2010. In 2nd place is 0.41” of rain happened in 2005. So it doesn’t rain much in early July, which is good news if you have fireworks plans!

Forecast discussion for the week ahead:

The atmosphere is going to be a little agitated over the holiday weekend, so isolated showers and storms will be possible each day of the 4th of July weekend holiday. It won’t be terribly warm, though. Highs will struggle to make it into the 90s each day with lows in the morning in the 50s and 60s.
