This is one of those holidays that doesn’t have a specific day that it falls on but a specific day of the week…the fourth Thursday of November, to be more exact. We’ve had Thanksgiving as early as November 22 and as late as November 28, which is where we see our Thanksgiving this year.
However, it’s still the final part of November and that usually means the weather is starting to get colder and colder. The average low for the end part of November is right around 13 degrees and the average high is about 44 degrees. But then again, we’re hardly “normal” around here! Last year, in 2023, we saw a high of 33 and a low of 19. A pretty cold day. In 2022, we were almost exactly normal with a high of 46 and a low of 12. 2021 was kind of an odd Thanksgiving.
We were above average with a high of 53, but the low was only 7 degrees! 2020 was another near normal day with a high of 46 and a low of 13. Almost exactly the same numbers as 2022. Then in 2019, we had a chilly 29 for a high and 19 for the low. All said, most of our Thanksgivings are near or below average for high temperatures.

Forecast discussion for the week ahead:
Other than a small chance for some light snow early Thanksgiving morning, we are looking at a quiet and cool end of November and beginning of December. The average high this time of year is in the lower 40s and thanks to an area of arctic high pressure, we’ll be well below that for the next several days. Early morning low temperatures will likely be in the single digits, too. It’s looking like a chilly start to the holiday season!
