“As a community and as parents we care for our children. We worry for them, we take extra precautions to make sure they are safe, and we expect the schools to keep them safe. Why risk putting another child in danger when you drop off/pick up your child from school? Often, drivers are in a hurry and speed.
Speeding reduces the driver’s ability to slow down when necessary, especially with Nebraska weather. Speeding makes it more difficult to steer safely around unexpected vehicles and pedestrians that may be on the road. One of the most prevalent factors contributing to traffic crashes is speed.
The Alliance Police Department cares for our children’s safety and continuously works on deterring bad driving behaviors by identifying traffic violations and conducting traffic stops. Recently, the Alliance Police Department has issued 39 citations for speed and 86 warnings for speed. Please help us reduce these numbers by reducing your speed.
Be aware that speed fines double in school zones. But most importantly, be aware of your speed and your surroundings to keep our children safe.
Tip: Always check the weather ahead of time and plan to leave your residence in a timely fashion to avoid speeding.”
