Hemingford Playground Project Update: A “Good Kind of Delay”

If you’ve been wondering when shouts of laughter and joyful play will be ringing out from our new playground—rest assured, they’re still coming! The project has experienced a fun kind of delay this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited to share why.

The Sherwood Foundation has awarded us a $100,000 grant to enhance the project in a big way. This incredible gift will cover most of the cost for rubber ADA-accessible surfacing, ensuring that children of all abilities can safely enjoy the playground. On top of that, it will also fund an additional playground feature that will be installed at the ballfields—bringing even more opportunities for kids and families to play, explore, and make memories.

With this generous award, our collective fundraising total has now topped $250,000! That’s an incredible show of support and dedication from donors, partners, and the community.

While this exciting boost means our original installation timeline has shifted, we’re thrilled to say the playground is now on track for installation this fall. We can’t wait to see kids running, climbing, swinging, and laughing on a playground that’s built for everyone.

Thank you to the Sherwood Foundation for investing in our community and to everyone who has supported this project along the way. The wait will be worth it—and the fun is just around the corner!
