This year during Heritage Days there was a contest called Hunt for the symbol, where daily clues were posted on social media. The symbol is an object to go with the theme for Heritage Days, “Roarin’ Through 2022.” It used to be a golden spike, but rather than the hunt for the spike, it was changed to Hunt for the Symbol.
“People had been putting fake spikes out. So, we changed it so for about the last nine years it has been hunt for the symbol,” said Susan Unzicker Executive Director for Alliance Chamber of Commerce.
There were 14 people in The Chamber of Commerce, Thursday morning, ready to claim their prize as they found the symbol in a group effort.
“We found the symbol in the park on the pillar covered by vines by the Knight Museum. We found it the last three years in a row. So, we’re clearly the winning team,” said Ashton Johnson, one of the members of the group that located the symbol.
The winners of the hunt claim $300 in Chamber Bucks if they have a button, and if not they only win $50 in Chamber Bucks. The group had a button and won the $300.
