Highland Park Care Center took to the streets on the morning of May 18 to celebrate residents during National Skilled Nursing Week.
Krista Blumanthal explained that they had about 50 entries in the parade with 36 out of 54 residents taking part in the parade, rolling down Box Butte Ave in Alliance in vehicles of all sorts, from bikes, trucks, and even a stagecoach, which was ridden in by resident Greg and driven by Chuck Brooks, from Torrington, Wyo.
“Our residents were SO excited to get outside for a ride, throw candy and see the community wave to them,” said Blumanthal.
Already, they are planning to host another parade next year, and Blumanthal would like to see even more organizations take part in the celebration, showcasing floats, animals and anything else to help celebrate the residents.
