On Friday, the Hemingford track teams traveled to Morrill for the Early Bird meet. Nine boy’s teams and 11 girl’s teams took part in the event. Winning both divisions were the Bulldogs from Bridgeport. The Dogs scored 131 points in winning first for the boys while the Lady Bulldogs netted 120 points in taking home first. Hemingford had a super day. The Cats were the runner ups in the boys, totaling 119 points. The Bobcat girl’s squad finished with 82 points which was good for third. First place finishers for the boys were: Jayce Haas in the 200, Boady Hunter in the 800, Austin Benda in the mile and 2 mile, and the 400 and 3200 relay teams.
For the girls, Hemingford got gold medal performances from: Teagan Thompson in the 800, Aurora Hinman in the 100 hurdles, Ainslee Woltman in the 2 mile, and the 2 mile relay squad.
“It was a beautiful day for early season competition. We had many good marks and times across multiple events. Proud of how our student-athletes competed and the positivity they showed for their teammates,” said Coach Joshua Dean.
