My name is Jeffrey Hollow Horn. I was born in Pine Ridge, S.D. I am a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.
I have a family of seven consisting of a fiancee by the name of Santana Alvarado, four daughters: Adriana, Aurora, Jordan, Ricki, and a German Shepard named Baby.
I’m a Christian who attends the Cavalry Assembly, and I have been blessed with an opportunity to work with Alliance Times-Herald as the Sports Editor. I grew up attending boarding schools from 3rd-12th grade in South Dakota.
I fell in love with sports at a young age, from watching the Chicago Bulls play on television to playing sports myself. My favorite player was Michael Jordan. I had always thought that one day I would be just like him.
Long story short, my life did not quite turn out that way. In high school I played football, basketball, and track and field for Flandreau Indian School. After High School I joined the United States Army as an infantryman where I went on to serve four years.
I am currently a student at Southern New Hampshire University where I am pursuing a Bachelors in Human Services with a focus on substance abuse. I made the Dean’s List for the summer of 2021 and the honor roll this previous semester.
My favorite hobbies would have to be spending time with my daughters, teaching them how to play sports, weight lifting, reading, playing disc golf, basketball and watching anything from college level sports to the pros.
My favorite pastime is watching NCAA Men’s basketball. March Madness is my favorite time of the year. I’m a huge Kansas Jayhawks fan who is thrilled they won the 2022 NCAA National Championship. I look forward to working with Alliance Times-Herald to deliver the news on Sports.
