Homecoming Royalty Make History Being Crowned in April

Although Chadron State College Homecoming festivities were postponed from last fall due to COVID-19, the 2020 Homecoming court was presented April 21.

Student royalty, nominated from campus clubs, were named at coronation in the Chicoine Center. The king is Damien Zuniga of Colorado Springs, Colo., and the queen is Emily Hansen of Hemingford. The King’s attendants are Brendan Fangmeier of Hebron, Joss Linse of Plattsmouth, Caleb Haskell of Madison, and Myles Mendell of Gothenburg. The Queen’s attendants are Ruth Mencia of Grand Island, Emily Hand of Columbus, Carissa Radtke of Sidney. Annaliese Werner of Merino, Colo.

Hansen’s mother, Janelle Visser was a CSC Homecoming Queen in 1988. According to Con Marshall, Hansen and Visser are not the first mother-daughter queen combination at CSC. The first Carolyn Martin of Hyannis in 1955 and her daughter, Joan McKeag, of Ogallala in 1989, according to Marshall’s records.

Following coronation, Cardinal Key led the lighting of C-Hill ceremony.

Homecoming 2021 is scheduled for Oct. 9. The football team will play CSU Pueblo.
