Injuries, Illness Hamper Lady Bulldogs in Oelrichs

Alliance would travel to Oelrichs South Dakota for a Saturday contest. The Bulldogs while still recovering from illness would get more bad luck as Haley Weare and Olivia Knapp would go down with injuries in the JV game further limiting the Bulldogs as they joined Bailey Stark and Emma Wood who have been unable to return since the Gering JV game. The Tigers of Oelrichs would play a solid game and shoot very well to improve to 7-7 on the season. They would hit nine three pointers and shoot nearly 42% from the field. The Bulldogs would battle but poor shooting would again decide the contest. The Bulldogs could only muster 26% from the field falling 72-46.

On the bright side for the Bulldogs they only committed 17 turnovers for a season low. The Dawgs also had a number of strong individual performances on the Value Point System, which scores your positive contributions divided by your negative stats. Keeley Mazanec, Leyton Schnell, Avah Steggall, Shelbee Burke, Jordan Hopp and Amauri Browning rated out in that order above the release line. Jordan Hopp would complete the first double, double of the year for the Bulldogs with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Shelbee Burke would nearly match the double, double with her 7 points and 9 rebounds. Leyton Schnell has shown vast improvement at the point, rating highly on the VPS the last couple of games.

The Bulldogs fall to 0-20 on the year. They will travel to Sidney on Tuesday to take on the #4 rated Red Raiders. The Bulldogs will finish the regular season in Brush Colorado on Saturday before heading to sub-districts the following Tuesday.
