Born on October 6, 1930 on the family farm in Kesley, IA, James Green died, Monday, January 16, 2023, at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne, at the age of 92. Preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Lou Green and Grandson Eric Dunlap. Survived by his daughter Jane A Dunlap, Phoenix AZ, and his son Stuart Green, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Grandfather to Jacob Dunlap, Austin, TX. Great grandfather to Zoey and Wyatt Dunlap, Phoenix, AZ and Landon and Ella Dunlap, Austin, TX.
Mr. Green earned his bachelor’s degree at Dubuque University, IA and was a graduate of McCormick Seminary school, Chicago. After graduation, he began his life’s work as a Presbyterian minister. He served in the Gresham, Gothenburg, Fairbury and Alliance churches in Nebraska before moving to Cheyenne WY in 1986. He retired in 1995. During retirement, James and Mary Lou traveled to visit family and many national landmarks. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in the Wyoming mountains. He loved to garden and work in the yard.
In addition to his work in the church, he was a 60 year active member in Kiwanis International, helping to establish a number of clubs in Nebraska and Wyoming. He served as President in Fairbury and Alliance NE chapters.
James will be interred at the White Oak Cemetery, near Urich, MO next to his wife, Mary Lou at a date to be determined.
