Janet Maurice Robinson (Peterson) died on May 5, 2022, at her home in Bellevue, Washington. The cause was Parkinson’s disease, first diagnosed 25 years ago.
Janet was born on October 8, 1939, in Alliance, Nebraska. She was the only child of Maurice Sumner Peterson and Janet Grassman, and divided her time between town and the family’s homestead ranch in Garden County. Janet lived most of her life in Denver, Colorado. In 1979, she received a bachelor of arts in history from Metropolitan State University. She received a teaching certificate and taught special education.
Janet enjoyed hiking, swimming, skiing, American history, modern art, and watching professional baseball and football. She adored cats and doted on her orange toms, Drifter and Woody. Janet moved to the Seattle area in 2013 to be near her daughter.
Janet is survived by her two children, Stephany Adriene Watson, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Craig Alexander Watson, of Milwaukie, Oregon, and many beloved cousins. Remembrances may be made to the U.S. Humane Society.
