Janice Marie Wortman, 84, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at her home.
She was born on June 28, 1939 in Belden, Nebraska to Glenn A. and Alice M. (Minegar) Roland. She attended several rural schools until the 6th grade at Randolph and then 8th grade through high school at Laurel graduating in 1957 from Laurel High School.
She was united in marriage to William Lee Wortman on April 10, 1991 in Alliance, Nebraska.
Janice worked for many years as a beautician, as a clerk and Coastal Gas Station and later at Shop ‘N Save Grocery Store. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she served as president of Faith Circle for several years. She was also a member of the Eagles Auxiliary for 44 years and the Red Hat Society. Janice also enjoyed scrapbooking, dancing and listening to country music.
She is survived by her husband, Lee, her children, Pamela Nobbe of Sioux City, IA, Dexter Nobbe, Donald Nobbe and Michael (Tracy) Gensler of LaPorte City, IA, her grandchildren, Aryanne, Eric, Nicholas, Jennifer (Brandon), Tony, Josh, A.J. and Danielle and her great-grandchildren, Tara, Jake, Levi and Kala. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Bob, Wayne, and Ken Roland, her sisters, Mildred (Taylor) Green, Eva Taylor, Donna Downs, Mary Taylor, Glennadine Barker and Judy (Les) Meier.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Reed officiating. Burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 5 from 1-7 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
