The Alliance City Council approved the resignation of City Clerk Tarrah Johnson during their meeting last Tuesday evening.
The item was added to the agenda as resolution No. 23-11–Accept Resignation of City Clerk Johnson 24 hours prior to their meeting, with Johnson’s resignation taking effect on Feb. 17.
Council members approved the resolution unanimously, with Council Member Mara Andersen thanking Johnson for her service.
“I want to say thank you, Tarrah, for everything that you’ve done,” said Andersen. “I know I’m the newest board member here, but you’ve been very supportive.”
Johnson became the City Clerk for the City of Alliance in 2020, assuming the role from City Clerk Linda Jines who retired from the position. During her role as City Clerk, Johnson served as Interim City Manager with Finance Director Randy Waggener following the resignation of City Manager Jeff Sprock, until the role was filled by Seth Sorensen.
In May of 2022, the Alliance City Council voted to amend the employment agreement with Johnson, changing her compensation from an annual salary of $65,270.43 to $73,031.20 and including an incentive for continued employment.
“As compensation for continued services to be rendered by Johnson, and as an incentive for continued employment in her position as City Clerk, Johnson shall receive an additional amount of $1,500 following each annual job performance evaluation, if the majority of council provides Johnson at least a satisfactory job performance evaluation,” the amended employment contract stated.
