Jesse Jurado was presented a Quilt of Valor on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at a surprise ceremony at the Skyview Golf Course in Alliance. His quilt was pieced and bound by Pat Dobry and quilted by Chris Wolf.
Jurado served in the Wyoming National Guard from 22 March 1976 to 01 November 2006 for which he received the Meritorious Service Medal for 30 years of military service with the 960th Maintenance Company (GS). Jesse retired holding the rank Sgt. First Class (SFC) E-7. Jesse first entered the service as a Crane Operator and Salvage Specialist. Jesse then served as a Mechanic and Welder before ending his military career as a Food Specialist.
He received a number of certificates of appreciation and ribbons for his service both state side and overseas including the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal in 1995 for leading his troops to win the 6th United States Regional Phillip A. Connelly Excellence in Food Service Competition and placing 3rd in the National Competition, the Wyoming National Guard Response Ribbon for support during Hurricane Katrina and Rita Disaster Relief, recognition of service during the period of the cold war 2 September, 1945 – 26 December 1991. Jesse has also received two Wyoming National Guard Achievement Ribbons. One while serving in “Operation Heritage ‘76” for distinguishing himself as a unit recruiter and the other in recognition for his and his units’ performance during Operation Brave Shield XVI in 1977.
Jurado is proud to have served his country and did so honorably.
