Katina Kochiras, 85, passed away on June 17, 2021 with her daughters at her side.
Katina was born on November 24, 1935 in Korifasi, Greece. She was married to George Kochiras on March 25, 1962. She immigrated to the United States shortly thereafter.
Katina and George settled in Alliance, NE and raised their 3 daughters. Katina was a homemaker for many years and also worked at Woolrich. She was an accomplished seamstress, a wonderful cook and took pride in her beautiful flower gardens. She was a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church. She proudly became an American citizen in 1974.
Katina is survived by her daughters, Theodora (Randy) Yost of Sterling, CO, Bessie (Craig) Bishop of Alliance, NE and Angie (Dan) Tinaglia of Faribault, MN. She is also survived by 5 grandsons, Joshua (Ann) Bishop, Jeremy (Iris) Bishop, Danny (Kenzie) Tinaglia, Zachary (Phedra Ukasick) Tinaglia and Ryan Tinaglia and her great-grandchildren, Ashlee Steyer, Adam Engelhaupt, Liam Pena, Ellie Bishop and Lilah Tinaglia. She is also survived by 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Father Joseph Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Bayard.
