Kay E (Thygeson) Juzenas Obituary

It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Kay E (Thygeson) Juzenas. Memorial services will be on Friday, September 27th, 20224 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Alliance, Nebraska.

Kay Ellen Thygeson was born in Watertown, SD to Peter Thygeson and Charlotte Tobey Turley on February 28, 1951. She was raised with her siblings Roger Turley, Darlene Turley Gammil, Carl Thygeson, and Clara Thygeson Sweatt.

She shared many fond memories of growing up and after a brief marriage, she and her young daughter Dawn moved to Alliance, Nebraska where she worked several jobs, and eventually met the love of her life, Gordon Juzenas. Kay and Gordon were married on September 11, 1976, and they soon added Niikki and Christopher to complete their family. Kay and Gordon had just recently celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.

Kay worked as a cook for the ranch she and Gordon lived on, and eventually worked on other area ranches until she and Gordon moved into Alliance, Nebraska where they made their home. Kay worked at Highland Park Care Center for many years, until ill health forced her to retire.

Kay deeply loved her grandchildren, and she frequently traveled to their sporting events, and programs, and was their biggest cheerleader. Her grandchildren Tre Purintun, Devin Bell, Damien Bell, Hunner Juzenas, and Colton Juzenas are left to mourn her passing, as well as her bonus grandchildren Mason Wells, Hannah Wells, Ashley Mekolon, Cole Gable, Tymarie Steinhauer, Kennan Robinson and Parker Robinson.

Kay is also survived by her brothers in laws Ronald Juzenas, Harold Juzenas, and Guy Sweatt, as well as her sisters in laws Levon Nelson, and Karen Juzenas, and Patricia Duran. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews, and special friends. Kay leaves behind her children Dawn Purintun, Nikki Juzenas, Christopher Juzenas, and bonus children Sandy Mundt, Renee Robinson, Jeff Robinson, and Inez Wells.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents Peter and Charlotte, her brothers Roger and Carl, and her sister Clara, her mother in law Vyvienne Juzenas, and her brother in law James Carlisle, who they could always be found up to mischief when together.

Her famous last words were “Always put in a hundred, they know what you put in.”
