Kerry June Fisher, 69, died Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Box Butte General Hospital. “Saying goodbye is not easy, but when released from pain it is as one friend calls it, a hard and holy moment.”
Kerry was born June 16, 1955 in Corson, South Dakota to Palmer L. “Bud” and Wanda E. (Scott) Karli.
Kerry graduated from Brandon Valley High School, Brandon, South Dakota in 1973, and later pursued her passion for nursing at Mount Marty College in Yankton, South Dakota where she earned her Registered Nursing degree.
Highlights included her years as Charge Nurse Supervisor at Good Samaritan Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Here she also met her future husband, Jeffrey A. Fisher, whom she married on June 2, 1984 in Brandon, South Dakota. After years of geriatric nursing, she found a new love and passion in family planning at Western Nebraska Community Resources. There were many, many hugs shared in her WIC office. Her most recent blessing was working at Box Butte General Hospital as auditor. The friendships and bonds proved to be strong this summer as Kerry’s health failed rapidly. Our gratefulness and gratitude for BBGH and EMT staff is beyond words.
Kerry was a dedicated member of the Alliance Berean Church, where her strong faith guided her life. She loved attending garage sales, playing piano, crafting, and was an active participant in Operation Christmas Child, generously giving back to her community.
She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Fisher; her son, Jason Fisher; and her granddaughter, Nevaeh Fisher, all of Alliance. She is also survived by her brothers, Wade (Barb) Karli of Faribault, MN and Lane (Ranae) Karli of Bennington, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alliance Berean Church. Pastor Glenn Johnson will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the educational scholarship fund for Nevaeh Fisher, C/O Jeff Fisher, 935 Cheyenne Avenue, Alliance, Nebraska, 69301, the Alliance Berean Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
