The wheels on the bus went round and round for Kiddies Campus as they headed to the zoo on May 17, where family members, students and teachers got to bond while looking at a variety of animals.
Students, parents and toddler classroom teacher Shawna Rischling loaded up in a big yellow bus and traveled to Scottsbluff to visit the Riverside Zoo.
“We are so fortunate to have the Riverside Zoo to visit in our area. It is just the right size for our young students and we were able to see a variety of animals. I would say that the monkeys, the bear, and a baby zebra were the highlights. The least favorite being a snake,” said Rischling.
Student Ricki Alvarado Hollow-Horn hid behind Mrs. Rischling in fright as they entered the building that contained the snakes.
“She was right behind me when we walked into that building and I said something about the yellow snake behind the glass and she screamed and went the other way! Can’t say I blame her,” said Rischling.
The weather was perfect that day for the field trip, where everyone enjoyed a picnic and played on the playground.
“We were able to enjoy a nice picnic lunch in the zoo and the children loved playing on the playground equipment and in the dinosaur dig area. To top it off, the big bus was a hit,” said Rischling.
