A nice crowd was on hand Tuesday for Senior night for the Alliance Lady Bulldog volleyball team. In a home matchup versus Bayard, the Bulldogs made quick work of the Tigers. Alliance got the win, defeating Bayard in three set 25-8 25-19 25-7. The Dogs now see their record improve to 4 and 7 on the year. Alliance also won the victory in the JV game played earlier in the evening as the Bulldogs notched a 25-11 25-12 win over the Tigers. Senior Macey Seebohm was the Dogs’ top scorer with a game high 21 points while Addison Weber led Alliance with 12 kills.
Four quick points by Alliance’s Josie Sanders helped the Dogs get off to a great start. Sanders was helped by 2 kills by Kaiah Adams during the spree. With Alliance leading 5 to 1, Seebohm began her big night by scoring 4 in a row that pushed the Bulldog lead to 9 to 1. A kill by Weber and a point by the Bulldog Junior later in the set gave the Bulldogs a 12 to 4 margin. Bayard came back with a small run to pull within 13 to 7 before another kill by Adams gave the momentum back to the hosts. Senior Bailey Shannon then came to the service line and register 6 consecutive points to increase the Alliance advantage. Five of Shannon’s points were ace serves. The set came to a close with 4 in row by Alliance’s Alexis Libsack with both Weber and Adams recording ace spikes. First set went to Alliance 25 to 8.
Set 2 followed the same successful formula for Alliance. Early points off the serve of Sanders got Alliance off a nice beginning. A pair of kills by Weber helped the Dogs take a 4 to 1 lead. Seebohm continued her fine play later in the set with 5 more points as Alliance surged ahead 9 to 1. Senior Shyla Salcido added 2 kills midway through the set that pushed the Bulldog lead to 12 to 4. Up 13 to 5, Alliance sent in Freshman Riley Poss to serve and the Bulldog reserve responded with 6 straight that made the 19 to 5 in favor of the hosts. A short delay due to a wet floor delayed action but when the game returned, Alliance again went on the attack. Kills by Weber and Adams gave the Lady Bulldogs the lead at 23 to 10. Bayard answered back with a big rally, scoring 9 of the game’s next 10 points. An ace block by Weber ended the Tigers rally and set 2 with Alliance on top 25 to 19.
It was all Bulldogs in the third. Points by Sanders and another kill by Weber made the score 3 to 1 in favor of Alliance. 12 straight points by Seebohm gave the Dogs a big lead at 15 to 1. During the 13 to 0 spree, the Bulldogs got kills by Weber, Shannon, and Taylee Thompson. Four ace serves by Seebohm gave Alliance a double digit margin. The Lady Bulldogs continued their fine play later in the set with kills by Macy Brooks and points by Thompson. Up 20 to 6, Salcido would record 2 more kills as Alliance got close. The match ended with 2 Shannon points and the Dogs recording a set three win 25 to 7.
