Lady Bulldogs Drop Jamboree Contest against Kimball

Cold shooting in the second half was too much to overcome for the Alliance Girl’s basketball team on Tuesday. Alliance fell to Kimball 33 to 25 in a home preseason match up. The Dogs could muster only one basket and 5 free throws in periods three and four in the ball game. Up 18 to 10 at halftime, AHS scored just 7 tallies in the final 16 minutes in falling to the Longhorns. Top scorer for the Bulldogs was Addison Weber who finished with 6 points.

A 6 to 0 spurt by the Dogs is how the affair began. Free throws by Paz Cody and Brooke Bailey gave Alliance an early lead. The hosts then went up by 6 after hoops by Olivia Krejci and Kaelyn Mazanec. Following a Kimball bucket, Alliance went up by 7 after a three by Weber. The period ended with a Longhorn basket and the Lady Bulldogs ahead 9 to 4.

Kimball used an old fashion 3 point play to slice their deficit to 9 to 7 as quarter 2 started . At the 6 minute mark, a score by Weber plus a three pointer by Brinlee Lanik put the score at 14 to 7. A trey by Bailey later in the quarter gave AHS a lead at 17 to 9. Period #2 came to a conclusion with a free throw by Kimball and one from Lanik. Heading to halftime, the Dogs were up 18 to 10.

Period 3 was big for the guests. Kimball would outscore Alliance 14 to 4 to take the lead. The visitors ran off 10 straight to lead 20 to 18. At the 3 minute mark, a tally by Krejci tied the game at 20. The scoring in the period ended with a free throw and a 3 by the Horns and a 2 by Mazanec. After 3 periods of play, the Dogs were down 24 to 22.

Alliance would score just 3 points in the finale. A free throw by Weber put the Dog deficit at 26 to 23. Another 3 point play by Kimball ensued as the guests went up by 6. Down the stretch, Alliance would get free throws by Lanik and Bailey but it wasn’t enough. Final. Kimball 33 Alliance 25
