Lady Bulldogs Fall to Lakota Tech

Game #11 for the Alliance girl’s basketball team had the Bulldogs traveling to South Dakota to tangle with the Lakota Tech Tatanka. The Dogs put forth a great effort but a strong second half by the hosts was too much in a loss by AHS 65 to 35. With the loss, Alliance drops to 0 and 11 on the year. The contest played Friday evening saw the Bulldogs stay close throughout the opening half, but a strong third and fourth quarter by the Tatanka helped the hosts pull away. Senior guard Macey Seebohm was Alliance’s top scorer with 19 points.

Both team’s offenses shined in the first period. Lakota scored first, but a free throw by Bulldog Brooke Bailey made the score 2 to 1. Down 4 to 1 later in the quarter, 2 free throws by Seebohm got AHS close at 4 to 3. A bucket by Seebohm midway through the period pulled the Dogs to within 2 seven to five. The Tatanka answered back with 5 in a row that made the score read 12 to 5. Alliance’s Paz Cody then got in the scorebook with a 2 pointer which was followed by 2 Seebohm free throws. The quarter came to a close with free throws by Lakota and Seebohm. End of one, Lakota led 14 to 11. A goal by Bulldog Addison Weber started the second. The hosts came back with 5 consecutive points as Alliance trailed 18 to 13. Senior Kayel Lambert added a basket that got AHS to within 3, 18 to 15. Midway through the quarter saw the Tatanka net 2 free throws while the Lady Bulldogs got 3 free throws by Seebohm. The half closed with Lakota Tech scoring the contest’s next 8 points and Alliance behind 27 to 18.

A trey by Seebohm is how the third began that got AHS to within 6. Lakota countered with back to back scores that put the Dog deficit to 10. A Bailey free throw ended the run, but 8 points in a row pushed the Lakota lead to 39 to 22 with under 4 minutes left in the quarter. The rest of the period saw a Bailey free throw for Alliance and a Weber three ball. Unfortunately, the hosts scored 7 point during that span as AHS was down 46 to 26 after 3 periods of play. The finale saw Alliance score 9 points, all on free throws. Seebohm would make 5 free throws in the final eight minutes of action while Bailey netted 4. Lakota continued their hot shooting, scoring 19 points in period #4. Final Lakota Tech 65 Alliance 35
