In a contest in which they lead the entire game the Alliance Lady Bulldogs improved to 5 and 7 for the basketball year with a 46 to 35 win over the Mustangs from Gordon/Rushville High School in a ball game played in Alliance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs also stopped a three game losing streak with the victory. Alliance used a red hot start along with a strong effort on the defensive side to take the win. Earlier in the evening, the Alliance JV squad dropped a two quarter contest to the Mustangs 16 to 10.
Five Bulldogs would get into the scorebook in the opening period. The first points came from Alliance point guard Macey Seebohm and senior forward Jaelynne Clarke as Alliance grabbed an early to 4 to 0. Following a Gordon bucket Alliance’s Regan Braun put the Dogs up again by 4 points with a 2 pointer. The teams then traded scores with a basket by Seebohm making the score Alliance 8 Gordon 4 at the four minute mark. A steal and score by Clarke up the Alliance lead to 6 but the Mustangs responded with a deuce, slicing the Bulldog lead back to 4. The period closed with the hosts pulling away. Thanks to points by CC Hudson, Seebohm, Shyla Salcido, and Addison Weber the Bulldogs lead 18 to 9 after one quarter of action. The momentum stayed with AHS in the opening stages of period two. Two point baskets by Braun, Hudson, and Seebohm plus a Weber 3 pointer helped the Lady Dogs surge ahead 27 to 11 with three minutes remaining in the half. Another 2 points from Weber and Hudson concluded the half with Alliance ahead 31 to 18.
Clarke had 6 quick points in the third that pushed the Bulldog margin to 37 to 18 at the five minute mark. A 2 pointer by Alliance’s Haylie Winter ended the fury as the Lady Bulldog’s lead grew to 21 points. The Mustangs answered the run with the game’s next 7 points making the score 39 to 25 with three minutes left in the period. A free throw by Weber stopped the run but Gordon would score the game’s next 5 points. After three periods of play Alliance led 40 to 30. Points would be hard to come by in the final quarter. Alliance would get free throws from Clarke, Winter, and Seebohm to hold on to their lead. Another steal and score by Clarke seal the deal for the Lady Bulldogs as Alliance went on for the 46 to 35 win.

A double double by Clarke led the Alliance offense. The senior ended with14 points while gathering 10 rebounds. Seebohm was solid with 9 points and 7 rebounds. Adding 8 was Weber while Hudson closed with 6. The scorebook also had Braun scoring 4, Winter netting 3 and Salcido adding 2.
