Lakota Dominate the Competition in Men’s Softball Tourney

The Box Butte County Softball Association started their end of the season softball league tournament for the men. The softball leagues have a tournament at the end of the season for both leagues that is double elimination, where teams compete to see who is the best team for the season.

Their record for the season determines where the teams will rank in the bracket and who they will play against. The No. 1 seeded team Lakota has gone through the tournament so far beating everyone they have faced and are currently scheduled to play in the championship game where they will need to be beaten twice in the men’s double elimination tournament.

“I feel we have really came a long way this season. Everyone’s bats came alive in the times we needed it. Our defense has been on point. We’ve really stepped up in every aspect of the game to get us to where we are. We’ve played some great teams here in the city league, great competition in the tournaments we’ve entered that had prepared us for this season and the year end tournament. We’ve really stuck together as a team and kept each other motivated even when we were down and we lifted each other up to earn victories this season. Honestly we play for the girls! A.E.F.V.N,” said Michael Rodriguez the third baseman on the Lakota team.

The Co-ed wrapped up their games of the regular season on July 28, where teams will find out where they will be ranked for the tournament. The No. 1 seed for the Co-ed softball league is Shoot and Shock who have only lost three games this season holding a record of 17-3 giving them the number one spot in the tournament.
