A rare tie on Saturday occurred in a legion baseball match between Alliance and Greeley, Colorado. The Spartans held a 6 to 2 margin after 5 innings before being outscored 5 to 1 by Go Jo in the 7 to 7 game. Greeley plated three runs in the sixth and 2 in the seventh to knot the game The Peltz Co scored one in the sixth and went scoreless in the bottom of the final inning. Braeden Clarke went the first 6 frames for Alliance, striking out 3. Spartan Lexton Salcido tossed the final inning. On offense, the Peltz Co had 9 hits led by 2 knocks apiece by Creighton Fritzler, Kegan Nelson, and Jaxon Poss. The games was played in Colorado as the Spartans now see their record go to 15 -2 and 1.
GoJo scored first in the top of the opening with 2 hits and an Alliance error. A strikeout by Clarke and an inning ending double play spun the Spartan defense limited the damage to just one run. On offense, the Peltz Co came up with 3 tallies in the bottom of the inning. Fritzler was hit by a pitch to start things. Alliance then got hits by Carver Nemnich, Mikey Johnson, and Jaxson Esparza to grab a 3 to 1 lead.
After a scoreless attempt by Greeley in the top of the second, the Spartans extended their margin to 3 following an RBI double by Fritzler. After 2 innings, the Peltz Co led 4 to 1.
In inning 3, both teams got a run. Greeley used a walk, a single, and a sacrifice fly to make the score 4 to 2. Following a free pass by Esparza , the Alliance shortstop scored after a run scoring knock by Nelson. In the fourth, Clarke had a scoreless frame , keeping the score at 5 to 2. Meanwhile, the Peltz Co scratched out one more tally. Salcido reached on a miscue by Colorado and eventually scored on a hit by Poss. After 4 complete, Alliance was up 6 to 2.
Things continued to look good for the Spartans in the fifth. GoJo went down in order while Alliance got a hit by Nelson. He was left on the bases. Momentum then went to Greeley. In the top of inning #6, GoJo plated 3 runs to make it a 6 to 5 contest. Greeley used 2 hits, 2 walks, an error by Alliance, and a fielder’s choice to pull within 1. In the home half of the inning, Alliance came back with one score. Knocks by Poss and Fritzler started the mini rally. A sacrifice fly by Tony Escamilla ensued and the game went to the final inning with the Peltz Co ahead 7 to 5. In the seventh, Greeley scored twice thanks to hit, a walk, and an Alliance error. The game ended in a tie as the Spartans went down in order in the home half of the 7th.
