Late Navy Rally Falls Short in 8 to 4 Loss to Buckley

A four-run spree in the final inning was not enough Thursday night for the Alliance Navy club in a contest versus Buckley. The Spartans who were down 8 to 0 in their last at bat, rallied and put 4 runs on the board before falling 8 to 4. With the loss, the Peltz Co now sees their record stand at 7 and 8 with one tie. The game was a part of a doubleheader against Buckley and was played in Alliance. Four Spartans took the mound with Carson Stull starting and going 3 innings. Stull gave up just one hit. Also pitching were: Jackson Devlin, Kylar Adams, and Eban Lore. The Peltz Co ended the first game with 4 hits.

Chappell scored three runs in the top of the opener. The Bombers used a couple of Alliance errors, a walk, a hit by pitch, and 2 run double to go up 3 to 0. On defense, the guests turned the Spartans away in the bottom of the inning with a double play. Stull put down the Bombers in order in the second and third while the Spartans got a double by Jayden Garcia in their try in the home half of inning three. Garcia failed to score and after 3 innings of action, the Peltz Co was behind 3 to 0.

Devlin came in the fourth for Alliance as the Spartans second pitcher. Chappell would add a tally with a single, a walk, and a sac fly to surge ahead 4 to 0. The Navy squad would threaten in the bottom of inning #4. Hits by Fletcher Moseman and Reese Muhr gave the Spartans a chance. Unfortunately both runners were left on the sacks. In the fifth, both teams failed to score and the game went to the sixth with the Bombers ahead 4 to 0.

Two more tallied were put into the scoring column for the guests in the top of the sixth. The Bombers got a single and a couple of walks to load the bases. An RBI ground out and a wild pitch made the scoreboard read 6 to 0 in favor of the visitors. Alliance was turned away in the home half of the inning. Two insurance tallies by the Bombers made a comeback by the Spartans difficult in their inning. Down 8 to 0, a walk by Devlin started an Alliance rally. Lore also drew a walk and a Bomber wild pitch made the score 8 to 1. A hard hit ball by Kyler Adams was next as an error by Chappell gave the Peltz Co run #2. Alliance’s next run came after a walk, a single by Israel Garcia, and a wild pitch. The rally would end after an RBI ground out by Casyn Nelson and a final out by the Bomber shortstop.
