Late Rally by WESTCO Gives Express a 7 to 4 Win over Navy squad

A very competitive weekend came to an end for the Alliance Navy club Sunday with a battle with the WESTCO Express. The Spartans held a lead late until a 5 run sixth inning led Scottsbluff to a 7 to 4 win. With the loss, the Peltz Co now has a 10-10-and 1 record for the season. Alliance was up 3 to 2 in the bottom of the sixth before the hosts rallied with a 5 spot. Offensively, the Spartans finished with 9 hits. Tanner Salcido lead the Peltz Co with 2 knocks. Pitching for Alliance was Miguel Galvan who went 5 plus innings and reliever Casyn Nelson.

A single by Spartan Teagan O’Gorman started things in the opening frame. O’Gorman failed to score and the game went to the home half. Westco would plate one run thanks to an error by Alliance and 3 walks. After one complete, the Peltz Co was down 1 to 0. Both teams went scoreless in the second. Alliance did get a double by Jackson Devlin but no tallies. Galvan had a super second, allowing 0 runs and striking out 2.

Both team failed to score in the third. A Salcido hit gave the Spartans a chance in the top of the inning but he was left on the bags. Another k by Galvan kept the Express off the board in their attempt in the bottom of the inning. Momentum then went to the guests in the top of inning four. Alliance would grab the lead with 2 runs. Hits by Reese Muhr, Israel Garcia, Galvan knotted the battle at 1. An Express miscue then made the score 2 to 1. Westco went down quickly in the bottom of the frame. After four complete, the Peltz Co was up 2 to 1.

Inning #5 saw both teams have success at the dish. The Spartans increased their advantage to 2 thanks to hits by Nelson and Fletcher Moseman. An RBI groundout by Kylar Adams made the score to 3 to 1 in favor of the visitors. Scottsbluff also got a tally in the fifth. WESTCO used a couple of walks and a run scoring single to pull within 1 at 3 to 2. Inning 6 was big for the Express. The hosts held the Spartans scoreless in the inning while plating 5 runs to surge ahead. With 2 outs, the Bluffs loaded the bases and went ahead for good with a 3 run double. Another double plus an Alliance error made the score 7 to 3 as the game went to the seventh.

The Spartans would get one back in their final at bat. Dixon Bair would reach on an error by Westco and score after a hit by Salcido and an RBI groundout by Muhr. Final Express 7. Spartans 4
