Chadron came to town on Tuesday for a pair of contests with the Alliance Prep team. In game one, the Spartans used 2 scores in their last at bat to defeat the guests 8 to 7. The Peltz Co goes to 20-18-1 for the year. Alliance had a 4 run lead after 2 innings of action but Chadron tallied 5 in the top of the third to move ahead by 1. Silas Lilley-Stone had a game tying hit for the Preps then scored the go ahead run after an error by the visitors. The Spartans finished the game with 4 hits. Kylar Adams was the Peltz Co starter and struck out 7 in 2 plus frames. Cisco Cody also pitched, getting the final 5 outs.
Both teams scored once in the first. Chadron used 4 walks to go up by 1. Adams had 3 k’s in the opener. Alliance got 3 hits in the home half. Lilley-Stone reached on an error by Chadron and later tied the game at 1, scoring on an RBI knock by Logan Freiberger. The Spartans also got first inning hits from Esai Trejo and Dixon Bair but no more scores.
Another run by Chadron in the top of the second then gave the guests a 2 to 1 advantage. Alliance countered with a 5 spot in the home half. Adams was hit by a pitch to start the rally. Braden Myers then walked and a miscue by Chadron knotted the contest at 2. The Peltz Co’s next 2 runs came on a hit by Freiberger that was misplayed by Chadron, making it a 4 to 2 game. An RBI walk by Bair and a sacrifice fly by Cooper Galles then ended the inning with Alliance up 6 to 2.
Chadron answered right back with 5 runs of their own in the top of the third to surge ahead by 1. The guests used 3 singles and 3 walks to make it a 7 to 6 battle. In the Preps final attempt, the Spartans plated 2. Adams walked and tied the game at 7 after a hit by Lilley-Stone. An error by Chadron then allowed Lilley-Stone to score the go ahead run. Cody would record a strikeout in Chadron’s last try as the guests went down without a score. Final Alliance 8. Chadron 7
