Late Surge Enables White Team Past Collins

Scoring five runs in their final at bat helped the Alliance white club get past Collins Summer nine to two in legion baseball action on Friday. The Spartans improved to fourteen and one on the year. Alliance now has won thirteen games in a row. Up by only two, the Peltz Co plated five in the bottom of the sixth in getting the win. The game was played in Colorado. Starting pitcher Tony Escamilla went the first six innings, allowing four hits and striking out five.

Three Spartans-Escamilla, Jaxon Poss, and Creighton Fritzler-finished with two hits to lead the offense. Overall, Alliance had nine hits.

Escamilla was sharp from the start as Collins went scoreless in the top of the opening frame. The Peltz Co then took the lead in their attempt in the bottom of the inning. Poss walked and scored on an RBI single by Escamilla. In inning two, both teams failed to score. Alliance had a bottom of the second inning hit by Poss who was left on the bases.

Collins would go down in order in the top of inning three while the Spartans added to their advantage. Alliance’s Kobe Strom reached after being hit by a pitch. Following an error by Fort Collins, Strom scored on a double by Escamilla. Heading to the fourth, the Peltz Co was up two to zero.

Following a walk, Collins sliced their deficit to one after an RBI groundout in the top of the fourth. Alliance responded with two tallies in the home half of the inning. The Spartans had their rally began after EJ Garcia reached after being struck by a pitch. A double by Poss ensued. Fritzler was next and his run scoring knock made it three to one. The frame closed with the Peltz Co getting an RBI groundout by Strom. After four, Alliance was ahead four to one.

The fifth saw Collins close the gap to two at four to two. A pair of hits and a miscue by the Spartans made the score book say four to two. The Alliance defense would get out of the inning with a lead following a double play. In the bottom of the fifth, the Peltz Co didn’t score.

Momentum would then go to Alliance in the sixth. Escamilla had a clean inning while the Spartans added to their lead in the bottom of the frame. The Peltz Co tallied five insurance runs. A walk by Garcia started things. Fritzler then plated Garcia after an RBI single. A single by Strom followed and moved Fritzler into scoring position. Fritzler would steal home for Alliance’s sixth run. An error by Colorado was next and Storm scored making the score seven to two. Alliance then got run scoring hits by Kegan Nelson and Mikey Johnson to surge ahead nine to two heading to the final inning. Strom enter as a relief pitcher in the seventh and held Collins Summer
