Two big 3 point goals by Ogallala in the final stages was enough Friday night in ball game played by the visiting Indians and the Alliance Lady Bulldogs. Down by 3 points late in the contest Ogallala hit back to back treys and went on for a 46 to 42 over Alliance in a well played girl’s basketball game at Alliance High School. Alliance now sees its record drop to 5 and 8 on the season. Ogallala bested the Dogs in the JV battle played earlier. Alliance fell 42 to 13.
The first period was very even with Alliance enjoying the game’s biggest lead at 6 points. Ogallala scored first but the Lady Bulldogs answered with the contest’s next 8 points. Three pointers by Alliance’s Haylie Winter and Regan Braun plus 2 free throws by Macey Seebohm gave the Dogs the lead at 8 to 2. Momentum then went to the side of the guests. An Indian three and 2 free throws made the score 8 to 7 of Alliance with under 4 minutes remaining in the quarter. From there the Bulldogs got hoops from Seebohm and Jaelynne Clarke to move ahead 12 to 7. The first eight minutes came to a close with another three ball by the Indians and an Indian 2 point basket. First period scoreboard read Alliance 12 Ogallala 12 after one period of play. The second began with 4 straight by the guests as the Indians went ahead 16 to 12. A hoop by Alliance’s Addison Weber and a Clarke charity shot closed the Bulldog margin to 1 at 16 to 15. Six free throws by Seebohm kept the game close later in the period. A score by Bulldog Shyla Salcido and 2 free throws by Winter gave Alliance a brief lead right before half at 24 to 22. The half came to an end with another 3 points by the Lady Indians and Ogallala enjoying a 25 to 24 lead.
Both team’s defense were especially solid in the third with Ogallala scoring 6 points and Alliance tallying just 8. Down 3 points at the four minute mark, Alliance knotted the score at 27 with 3 points scored by Seebohm. The game was then tied at 31 with the Bulldogs getting scores by Weber and Seebohm. Two free throws by Seebohm put the curtain of the third with Alliance leading 32 to 31. A huge 3 pointer by Winter in the opening minutes of quarter four gave Alliance some breathing room. It was followed by a steal and score by Clarke that put the Dogs up 37 to 31 with six minutes left to play. Ogallala responded with a two pointer and a three that sliced their deficit to 1. A Salcido hoop gave Alliance was ahead by a 3 point lead at 39 to 36 with under four minutes left. Two free throws later in the period by Clarke gave Alliance the advantage at 41 to 38. The finals moments saw the Indians drain another 3 points to tie the score at 41, a free throw by Clarke as the Dogs went up one, and 5 straight points by the Indians including another monster three. Seebohm was the leading Bulldog scorer with 15 points followed by Clarke and Winter who tallied 8 each. Adding 4 points apiece were Weber and Salcido with Braun finished with 3.
