Four big three pointers in the second half helped Bayard defeat Alliance 39 to 29 in girl’s basketball action on Tuesday in a ball game played in Bayard. With the loss Alliance falls to three and four on the year. The Bulldogs lead by one at half but the score was tied heading into the fourth before Bayard pulled away. In a two quarter contest played earlier the Alliance JV team defeated the Tigers 16 to 10.
Both teams would enjoy the lead in the first period. Two free throws by Bulldog Macey Seebohm began the scoring with Alliance ahead 2 to 0. Bayard responded with 6 straight points to surge ahead by 4. The quarter closed with baskets by Seebohm and Jaelynne Clarke and 2 free throws by CC Hudson. Alliance led 8 to 6 after one period of play. Tied at 8 in the second period Alliance got back to back three pointers by Seebohm to move ahead 14 to 8. At the four minute mark it was the Tigers gaining the momentum. Bayard went on a seven to zero run with 2 baskets and a three. A Hudson hoop and a free throw by Clarke concluded the scoring in the half with the Lady Bulldogs leading 17 to 15.
An old fashion three point play by Hudson got Alliance off to a super start in the third period. Bayard answered with a three pointer but another trey by Seebohm kept Alliance ahead 23 to 18. Another Bayard trey was followed by a Tiger basket and a free throw that gave the hosts a lead at 24 to 23 with under 3 minutes left in the quarter. A free throw by Seebohm would then knot the score at 24 before another three ball by Bayard push the Tiger margin to three. The quarter ended with a three by Alliance’s Addison Weber. After three periods of play the contest was tied at 27. Unfortunately for Alliance the Dogs could only muster 2 fourth points. The quarter started with 6 straight points by the Tiger that included another three pointer. Clarke scored for the Bulldogs at the 3:21 mark that sliced the Alliance deficit to 33 to 29.
