Leonida Mae Todd passed away May 31, 2023 in Aurora, Nebraska peacefully at her home. She was born January 23, 1936 in a sod house along the Niobrara river south of Rushville, Nebraska to Martin and Catherine (Kollar) Todd. She lived in this house in her early childhood with the family ultimately settling in Alliance, Nebraska. Alliance was then Leonida’s home in which continued she to grow up and eventually marrying and raising numerous children in Alliance.
Leonida carried over her love for the earlier growing up times by having gardens, canning the harvest, and other outdoor activities. With adventuresome soul, she participated in racing in the powder puff cars at the Alliance race track. Throughout Leonida’s life, she loved watching Nascar and going to actual races when possible. Leonida was also a die-hard Husker football fan. She was an avid bowler in which she received an award for bowling for forty consecutive years. She bowled in Alliance’s bowling leagues and Alliance’s traveling leagues as well as participated in various annual state and national tournaments.
Leonida went into law enforcement starting out as a meter maid in Alliance. From there, she moved up to police dispatcher, and then she went to the police academy and was the first female APD officer for numerous years in Alliance and ultimately returning to the dispatching side until retirement.
Leonida is survived by her children: Timothy Wilkens (Bunny Todd), Cindy Wilkens (Kevin Gould), Susan Wilkens, Tannya Reeve(Brian Jensen), Melodie Reeve, Thomas Reeve , and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Leonida was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Danielle Reeve Heckman, sister Deloris Schefcik, brother Jack Todd, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Services will be held at Alliance (Greenward) Cemetery, June 24th at 6:00pm: Lot 7, Section 5, Block 3 with Russell Saito officiating.
