Leslie Cameron, 68, died on May 30, 2025 in Alliance, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Jean (Wallace) Cameron and John H. Cameron. Born in the Cleveland suburbs, she grew up in Willowick, OH and Barrington, IL. She spent her young adult years in Gardner, MT, working at Yellowstone National Park. She moved to Portland, ME area in the late 1980’s, living in Portland, Saco and Biddeford. While working as a buyer at Vessel Services, she met her ex-husband Bruce Harvey, a commercial fisherman. Their daughter Alison was born in 1995 and was the light of Leslie’s life.
Leslie channeled her best impulses into supporting Alison as a creative and aware person. An avid reader, Leslie taught Alison to read at a young age. Leslie lived with a sense of wonder at the natural world, imparting a love of animals and nurturing Alison’s budding artistic talents. During Alison’s school years, when Ali lived in Rhode Island, they met for visits in Massachusetts with the family of Leslie’s brother, John frequenting the zoo and science museum.
Leslie moved to Alliance in 2014, to be near her sister Anne and their widowed mother.
Leslie is survived by her daughter Alison Jean Harvey (partnered with Joseph Pelletier III) of Coventry, RI; brothers, John Cameron (Naomi) of Wellesley, MA; David Cameron (Donna) of Grays Lake, IL, and her sister, Anne Henderson-Weare (Leroy Weare) of Alliance, NE.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and John Cameron.
