The Western Community College Area (WCCA) Board of Governors is pleased to announce that the District 1 vacancy has been filled by Lori Liggett of Gordon.
Liggett was sworn in at the May Board of Governor’s meeting. Liggett will serve the remaining term of former District 1 representative Dr. Margaret Crouse, who passed away earlier this year.
“We are pleased to welcome Lori to the board,” said Karen Anderson, WCCA board chair. “She brings decades of experience both in the classroom and as an administrator. She will be a tremendous asset to the board and a great advocate for the College.”
Liggett is recently retired from a 39-year career in education in the Gordon-Rushville Public Schools system. She began as a teacher in August 1984 before transitioning to administrative roles as an activities director, principal of Gordon-Rushville High School (2006-2015), and superintendent of Gordon-Rushville Public Schools (2015-2022).
After her retirement from Gordon-Rushville, she became an adjunct field study supervisor for Chadron State College, and most recently serves as a grant writer for the Center of Rural Affairs.
“Western Nebraska is fortunate to have the quality of post-secondary programming and opportunities that WNCC provides,” Liggett said. “I look forward to serving on the WCCA board and working with the other board members and President Dart to support and grow those programs and opportunities.”
