Lonnie Ray Sherlock of Fort Worth, Texas lost his battle to cancer and went to be with the Lord March 4, 2021 at the age of 74. He was born in Alliance, Nebraska to Charles Sherlock and Vivian (Donovan). He grew up in Alliance and studied Education at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where he ran hurdles for the Track Team.
He married the love of his life, Marcia (Conway) on January 22, 1969; celebrating 52 years of marriage earlier this year.
He dedicated his career to Alliance Public Schools, where he taught High School, coached track, and eventually become Director of Community Education. He also received a Master’s in Education from Chadron State College.
He is survived by his wife Marcia, children Travis (Pam) and Tandi, grandchildren Sydney, Halle, Cadence, and Zane, his sister Connie Ackerman, nephews, nieces, and countless good friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents, brother Don Sherlock, brother and sister-in-law Dick and Darlene Harders.
Lonnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, cooking, reading and was passionate about his grandchildren and all their activities.
There will be a small service in Fort Worth next week, and a wonderful celebration of life in Alliance later this year. Burial will be in Cairo, NE this summer. Cards can be sent to 9433 Sundial, Keller TX 76244.
Lonnie was a friend to everyone he met, a rock for his family and will be deeply missed.
