There is a new Chief of Police in Alliance.
Hailing from the Louisville, Colo. Police Department, Philip Lukens was chosen to lead the Alliance Police Department after former Chief of Police John Kiss retired.
Lukens started the position on Monday. Lukens has served in a plethora of ways since 1997, working his way to the rank of commander. Throughout his service, he garnered multiple certifications including: FBI LEEDA, International Chief’s of Police Leadership in Police Organizations, CAP, CERT, Crisis Intervention Teams and Crash Reconstruction Expert. Lukens graduated from Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Staff and Command.
Born in Sterling, Colo., Lukens brings with him experience in small city and agricultural communities.
“I am honored to join the team of the great men and women who dedicate their lives to the community of Alliance,” Lukens said in a press release announcing his appointment. “I will continue to build upon the strengths and success of Chief Kiss. I am committed to open communication and look forward to continuing a partnership with our community for years to come. Serving businesses and citizens is a delight.”
Lukens took his oath of office Tuesday morning.
