Mabel L. Rader Obituary

Mabel L. Rader, 107, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Highland Park Care Center.

She was born on June 17, 1917 in rural Cherry County north of Whitman, NE to Jeremiah and Mamie (Johnson) Kirchner.

She was married to Peary Rader on March 1, 1936 in Torrington, Wyoming.

Together with her husband they published “Iron Man” magazine in Alliance.  Her husband’s interest in weightlifting was the start of this business.  The circulation grew to 40,000 and was distributed worldwide.  They built a plant to produce and print the magazine.  The magazine was sold to a California publisher when they retired.

Her survivors include her sons, Gene (Janice) Rader of Alliance and Jack Rader of Lancaster, CA. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was the youngest of 9 children and was preceded in death by all of her siblings.

Memorial services will be Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.  Pastor Russell Saito will be officiating.  Interment in the Alliance Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
