Many Brave the Cold for a Good, Old Fashioned Barn Dance

The Eagles Auxiliary in Alliance hosted a barn dance Saturday, January 18, and with the weather at one degree above zero at 9:00 p.m. there was a bit of fear that the turnout would not be good. But the weather did not hinder anyone’s plan.

Brad Olson, Trustee, explained what makes the barn dance so exciting is “All the neighbors come together to hang out.”

“The gentleman that’s singing, he is originally from Ashby. He taught his mom how to play bass guitar,” said Mandy Fair. “He’s got a really nice following. It’s an honor to have him playing here for us.”

So who was it that had the locals and people as far as Hyannis braving the cold air for? The BJ Jamison Band. The band has six members: Randy Hartman, Brett Burress, BJ Jamison, Grant Pickrel, Austin Bellin and Lisa Jamison, BJ’s mom.

“I’ve been playing music for the past six years now,” said BJ Jamison, the singer. “Out of 2024 we were close to 150 shows for the year. Everything from being in the corner of a bar to a large mainstage in front of a lot of people,” he said when asked about his shows.

Everyone was having a great time Saturday night. The seats were packed and the dance floor was filled with couples dancing.
