The Bulldogs traveled to Broken Bow on April 8, competing against 11 other teams. The boys took 10th as a team with 10 points overall. Isaiah Martinez scored all 10 of the Bulldogs’ points with a second place finish in Shot Put with a throw of 51’ 1.5 and a fifth place finish in Discus, hitting a personal record of 134’ 8.
Alliance Coach Nate Lanik took notice of this performance given by Martinez. Lanik said the team faced several challenges.
“Thank goodness for Isaiah Martinez for the boy’s side of things,” said Lanik. “He was our lone ranger when it came to scoring points. Our boys competed hard, but competition was tough.”
The girls placed 10th overall with a team score of 17. Alliance girls claimed the gold in the 4×800 relay. Lanik noted a strong effort on the girls team. “Girls started the meet well in the 4×800 relay capturing our only gold performance of the day. Macey Seebohm continued her great effort and performance in the open 800 taking home the bronze,” Lanik said.
Lanik explained that in the weeks ahead. The team will focus on recovery and building strength.
