Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Langtry, 73, of Lincoln, NE entered heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 8, 2022 in Lincoln, NE. She was born on February 19, 1949 in Oakland, California to Fred and Helen (Cox) Langtry. She was nine years old when she moved with her family to Kearney, Nebraska. She attended Kearney Catholic High School (class of 1967) where she was involved in cheerleading. Then she went on to attend Kearney State College where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She graduated Kearney State College with the class of 1971. She had various jobs over the years, working as a teacher, with Burlington Northern Railroad in Alliance, with Tier One Bank in Lincoln, and with the US Department of Veterans Affairs in Lincoln before retiring in 2017. She was an avid reader. For many years, her favorite stop was the library. She often read 3 or more books a week. She loved nature, especially the ocean. She often reflected fondly on her time growing up in California and Nebraska. She also loved art, classical music, and British television. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She loved being a grandma. She was a quiet and calming presence, and loved to host her children and grandchildren at her home. Her faith in God’s sovereign plan for her life brought her peace until she joined Him in heaven. Survivors grieving her loss include her children Sage Stickney of Alliance, NE, Amy (Seth) Johnson of Crete, NE, and Emily (Brett) Theiler of North Platte, NE. Grandchildren are Madison Stickney; June and Elliott Johnson; and Wren, Mae, and Scottie Theiler. Also survived by her former husband and father of their three children, Richard Stickney of Alliance, NE. She is also survived by siblings, Jim (Linda) Langtry of Lincoln, Fred (Kathy) Langtry of Riverside, CA, and Barbara Drake of Hayden, Idaho; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Bekker; and brothers, Richard, Walter, and Donald Langtry. All expressions of sympathy, including flowers, honorary donations to a favorite charity, and cards are welcome.
