Michael A. Nerland, 43, died Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 24, 1977 in Omaha, Nebraska to Eugene O. and Luella A. (Dauwen) Nerland.
Mike was born with a gentle soul and the heart of a warrior. Mike was always very protective of his family and cared deeply for his parents, sister, niece, nephew, and great niece. He also loved his country and when he was deployed to Iraq he was prepared to give his life for his country. Because of his faith, he knew that he was saved and would go to heaven. Mike began as a Private in the Army and was given an honorable discharge as a Captain. Mike was a true Nebraska Husker fan and went to as many football games as he could. Mike touched a lot of lives as he shared the last month of his life and his faith.
Mike is survived by his parents, Eugene and Luella Nerland; his sister, Rachelle Pfeiffer; his niece, McKenzie Pfeiffer; his nephew, Alexander Pfeiffer; and his great niece, Dahliah Pfeiffer, all of Alliance; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, 4 uncles, and his cousin, Lee Dauwen.
Mike didn’t want a funeral but a party, so we are planning a party in March for his birthday to celebrate his life. We will let people know the date and times when we know.
Memorials may be given to Wounded Warriors, or sent in care of the family at, P.O. Box 392, Alliance, Nebraska, 69301.
