Mid July Normals and Records

With Alliance Heritage Days upon us, I thought we’d take a look at what our temperatures are normally like this time of year. As is usually the case, temperatures aren’t “normal” very often, but knowing what is typical for this time of year can help us prepare. We’re usually just a handful of degrees away from “normal” each day, but it can get much warmer and sometime much cooler. Since it’s July, our normal high is on the warm side and typically in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. The normal low is still a little on the cool side and in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees. The record lows can get a little chilly sometimes, though. For example, the record low on Saturday is 51 degrees, set back in 2015. We have an even colder record low for Friday, when back in 2005 it dropped to 45 degrees. The record highs are very warm. Each day in July has record highs well into the 100s. On Saturday, the record high is 104 degrees, which was set in 2017. In fact, most of our record highs for the summer happen in July. 13 out of the top 20 warmest days happened in July! 3 happened in June and 4 happened in August.

Forecast discussion for the week ahead:

After a cool couple of days, we’ll start to warm back up as we head through the weekend. We’ll have a few frontal boundaries moving through each day so isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible on and off. A couple of the storm may be on the strong to severe side. Much warmer air moves in for next week and the chance for storms dries up.
